A Raw Journey is an immersive experience guided by the Nomad Studio Publishing research method. You move through the landscape, listen to it, and produce material from it with full sensory attention. Selected outputs enter the Raw archive and may be published in the Raw Magazine issue dedicated to that territory. You become part of the Nomadic Authorship Circuit.
Accommodation · Guided field sessions · Curatorial direction · Daily collective restitution · Archive access
Field material · Possible Raw Magazine credit · Entry into the Nomadic Authorship Circuit
Every Raw Journey is led by authors of the Nomadic Authorship Circuit. Each brings a different instrument to the same territory.

Each day follows a rhythm designed to move between attention and reflection, between individual practice and collective intelligence. The territory sets the agenda. The structure makes space for it.
Raw Journeys welcome every creative ready to explore a territory with full attention. The method suits all levels of experience.
6–8 participants per journey. Small groups give the experience its depth.
Any creative discipline in art and design. Photography, video, writing, design, sound — or any combination. Each participant follows their own practice while sharing the territory.
Your work is yours. A selection may be proposed for the Raw archive and magazine, always with your agreement and credited.
Accommodation, guided sessions and curatorial direction. Participants arrange their own travel to the departure city.

The moment before the mind steps in, organises, assigns meaning. That is exactly where we want to be.
We believe in returning to our roots.
In the gesture that precedes words, in the gaze that meets the raw matter even before it’s named.
Nomad Studio Publishing was created to explore all that’s raw, unpolished, alive.
We call something raw when it’s still unfiltered, untamed, unlabelled.
What is raw defies definitions — it’s the sacred source of every intuition.
Our approach is primaeval, not archaic: it’s an intuitive, direct sensorial means of perception that brings body and imagination to the heart of the creative process.
Francesco Cusumano
Creative Director
We work with and within the landscape.
We transform marginal territories into emotional maps.
Raw matter is our alphabet.
We reject homogeneity. We seek uncertainty.
We are nomads, yet rooted.
We are a studio and we know how to listen.
We are publishers and collectors of signals.
We gather what happens at the borders, during our expeditions, in those territories that withstand the noise.
A living network of visionary authors, artists and researchers. A shifting constellation where voices meet, diverge and resurface.
The Nomadic Authorship Circuit is the living network of authors, photographers, researchers, writers, sound designers and curators who collaborate with NSP on field research projects. Each project activates a different configuration of the circuit — some voices appear in one issue, others travel across several.
Participating in a Raw Journey is the primary way to enter the circuit.
Access to the Raw archive, publishing opportunities in Raw Magazine, and a growing international network of collaborators.
Fifteen authors, four fields of practice. Each project activates a different constellation.
Authors cross a place together during a Raw Journey, each with their own language: image, word, sound, research.
Field material enters a common archive, credited to each author and open to future projects of the circuit.
A selection becomes an issue of Raw Magazine: one territory, many voices, a single printed atlas.
The work returns to the public as installations and presentations.
Participate in a field journey and produce work that enters the Raw archive: you become part of the constellation, and your name appears in Raw Magazine alongside the others.
A circuit grows by encounter. Every journey adds new voices, and every voice changes the shape of the constellation.
Nomad Studio PublishingEvery project grows together with a territory and with those who choose to invest in it. An open invitation to companies, institutions, foundations and public bodies to share the Raw method.
Nomad Studio Publishing works where field research, publishing and experience meet. Each project starts from a specific territory and returns to it as a magazine issue, an installation, a journey, a community of authors. Partnering with NSP means taking part in this cycle: supporting research in the field, giving it a form, carrying it to new audiences.
Raw Pantelleria brought seven authors, an island community and a European programme into a single project. The model is ready to travel to new territories.
Projects unfold across seasons and issues, with tangible outputs: publications, installations, archives, educational programmes.
Every partner appears in the publication, in the public programme and in the communication of the project.
Co-design a field research project in your territory: a Raw Journey, a Raw Magazine issue, a site-specific installation. Shared authorship, shared outputs.
A cultural and creative partner for public programmes and European consortia on landscape, heritage and sustainable tourism, with method, authors and editorial production.
Support a research project, a residency grant for young authors or a print run of Raw Magazine. Each contribution is credited in the publication and in the public programme.
A curated programme in a real landscape for your team or your community: observation workshops, editorial projects, events where the place leads the experience.
Field observation, sensory research and territorial narration as practical disciplines for students and teachers, in the classroom and in the field.
Host an installation, a presentation of Raw Magazine or a public talk. Geografia Sensibile at Recontemporary, Turin, is the latest example.
A first meeting on your goals, your audience and the territory you care about.
A tailored project with format, authors, timeline, budget and expected outputs.
Research and production on site, with a shared calendar and regular updates.
Publication, installation or public event, with documentation and credits for every partner.
Write to us with a few lines about your organisation and the place you care about. We reply with a first proposal.
Every collaboration starts from a territory and returns to it, leaving something to the place as well as to the people who shared the work.
Nomad Studio PublishingSeven authors, five days on a volcanic island, a single printed atlas. The first issue of Raw gathers the field material of Raw Pantelleria: photography, literary texts and a visual atlas of the island.

Bilingual, Italian and English. Two literary texts, a visual atlas and the voices of the authors in the field, opened by the manifesto of Nomad Studio Publishing.
We publish what we gather in the field: a place before it becomes a story, kept on paper.
Nomad Studio PublishingWe help brands, institutions and cultural organisations find a coherent, grounded identity through the lens of place. Artistic direction, editorial design, territorial narrative — built from direct observation of the real.
We define the visual and conceptual identity of a project — from concept to final output.
Visual identity systems, branded editorial objects, publications and catalogues. Designed to last.
We build the story architecture — what to say, in what order, with which voice and register.
We research and document a territory through visual observation, interviews, field notes and archival material.
Photography direction, image curation, archive building. We know how to look before we know what to show.
For organisations and projects that need a cultural identity coherent with their territory and values.
We choose our clients with care — organisations ready to slow down, observe, and let the territory speak.
Tell us what you're building, and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.
We look before we design. Every identity we build starts in the field, from the light, the matter and the voices of a place.
Nomad Studio PublishingWe design and produce cultural events where the space itself becomes the medium. Sensory storytelling, curated atmospheres, site-specific activations — from a single evening to multi-day programmes.
Photography, installation and visual research presented in unconventional spaces. Each show is a narrative act.
Sound, light, movement and text activated within a specific place — natural, industrial, archaeological.
Conversations with artists, researchers and practitioners on landscape, ecology, creative practice and territorial identity.
Cultural frameworks for companies and institutions. We bring editorial rigour, sensory depth and authorial identity to your event.
Four days on Pantelleria with Emotional Sicily, within the EU-funded BEFuture initiative. Seventy local stakeholders shaped a programme across the Parco dei Sesi, the Mirror of Venus, Sataria and Tenuta Borgia. Geografia Sensibile opened the event and returns in a new version at Recontemporary, Turin, 27–29 November 2026.
We start from the place, the institution or the theme, and define the conceptual frame first.
We assemble the right voices from our authorial circuit — photographers, sound designers, writers, artists.
From exhibition design to technical setup, print materials and communication — we manage the full production.
We bring audiences in through editorial storytelling, social presence and curatorial programming.
We work with organisations that want to build something with a real identity. Each project is developed on a custom basis, shaped by its context.
Every event we design begins with the place itself: its light, its matter, the people who live it. The audience enters a territory, and the programme follows.
Nomad Studio PublishingRaw Magazine and fine art prints from the field. Limited editions, shipped worldwide.
Our workshops are about slowing down and learning to observe before producing. Practical labs in the field or in the studio — for photographers, writers, designers and anyone working with place and perception.
A guided practice in slowing down perception. Participants work with the tools of observation — walking, listening, notation — before touching a camera or pen.
A practice of approach before technique. How to enter a territory with a camera and come out with material that holds something real. Conducted in the field, with immediate feedback.
Building personal maps of a territory — layering visual, written, sonic and spatial research. Participants produce a working archive during the session.
Writing from place. Active notation, sensory record, material language — the writing as instrument of attention. Participants come out with raw material they can then shape.
Workshops can be standalone or embedded inside a Raw Journey. Participants who produce material during a workshop may contribute it to the Raw archive.
Photographers, visual artists, writers, journalists and designers.
Those who read a territory through space, matter and inquiry.
Groups who want to train attention together, in the field or in the studio.
Every Raw Journey includes a workshop component. Participants are guided through observation and production practices each day.
We slow down before we produce. Walking, listening and noting come first; the image and the word arrive later, carrying what the place has given.
Nomad Studio PublishingWe collaborate with schools, design academies and universities to introduce field observation, sensory research and territorial narration as practical disciplines — living methods woven into how students work.
Single sessions introducing NSP methodology — field research, sensory observation, editorial translation. Suitable for any level, adaptable to the course curriculum.
Multi-session programmes integrated into a course. Students develop a field observation practice over several weeks, culminating in a small publication or presentation.
One or two-day field activities where students apply the NSP observation method in a real territory. Guided by NSP and contributing authors.
Collaboration with individual students or research groups whose work overlaps with NSP's territories and methods.
We teach the conditions that make good photography and writing possible. Students who go through an NSP programme often describe it as a fundamental shift in how they work. That's what we're after.
Ongoing collaboration on visual research and editorial practice. Francesco Cusumano is a faculty member.
Field education on the Bosnian pine and the high-altitude ecosystems of the massif.
Field education in the reserve of centuries-old Calabrian pines.
If that sounds like your school or programme, let's talk.
We bring students into the field to learn a way of looking: slow, attentive, physical. The territory becomes the classroom, and attention becomes a method.
Nomad Studio PublishingRaw Journeys are research residencies in motion — field inquiry, active production, full sensory presence. You arrive with a practice and leave with material.
Every journey is rooted in a specific place selected for its ecological, cultural and sensory density — chosen for its rawness.
Each journey runs alongside an active NSP research project. Participants' material is part of the same inquiry.
6–8 participants selected for complementary practices — a small, intentional group.
All material produced enters the Raw archive. The best work may be published in Raw Magazine — a direct line from field to print.
Six days in Tunisia. Arid landscapes, oases, olive groves, desert margins, ancient gardens. Linked to the Alberi Mediterraneo research project.
The origin journey. Five days on a volcanic island — 7 authors, one research direction, one emerging publication. Everything that followed started here.
Selection is based on a portfolio and a short statement of intent. We look for openness to working within a shared frame, and genuine curiosity about the territory.
Participating in a Raw Journey means entering the Nomadic Authorship Circuit — a living network of researchers, artists and practitioners whose work connects across projects and publications.

The first Raw Journey and the manifesto project of Nomad Studio Publishing. A volcanic island, seven authors, five days of full attention, and five outputs that carried the island into a residency, an event, two installations and a book.

In the quality of attention, the discipline of the method, the encounter between authors and territory. On Pantelleria, authors working across photography, sound, video, writing and archaeology built a shared research experience, each with an individual outcome, using presence and method as the common language.
From that field material grew a corporate event prototype, an audio-video installation at a Bronze Age site, a book and a video installation in Turin. The destination changes. The method travels with it.

2026 · PresaleA new version of the work for a single wall, with an original sound score.
27–29 Nov 2026September–October 2025. Seven authors, one territory, each with their own instrument. For five days photographers, writers, a videomaker, an archaeologist and a composer crossed Pantelleria, Italy's most remote volcanic island, following the calls of the landscape: light, wind, the texture of the ground, the scents of the maquis. A traditional dammuso, the stone house with a domed roof, was the point of return at the end of each day.
23–26 October 2025. Developed by Nomad Studio Publishing and Emotional Sicily within Immersive Sicily, a project of the EU-funded BEFuture initiative.
A place-led model for business gatherings: the island shapes the structure of the event, its rhythm and its encounters. A curated group of international professionals in tourism, events, design, culture and sustainability crossed Pantelleria for four days.
Months before, more than seventy local producers, cultural actors, institutions and residents took part in the design. The programme moved from the Bronze Age Parco dei Sesi to the Bosco Grande forest, the Mirror of Venus and the promontory of Sataria, through deep listening, wild herbs, volcanic stone and a closing Authors' Dinner at Tenuta Borgia. Dialogue grew from the territory itself, and the event left something to the island as well as to its guests.

October 2025. Three LED walls in the Bronze Age landscape of the Parco dei Sesi.

Three vertical LED walls rise from the volcanic ground of the Parco dei Sesi. Photographs, video fragments and passages from the authors' texts move across them with an original sound score by Sebastiano M. Longo.
The island returns to itself as images and sound, in the place where its oldest human presence still stands.
December 2025. A public talk and a small exhibition of the field material at ABADIR Design Academy. Authors and curators of Raw Pantelleria presented the project to students and teachers of ABADIR: the residency, the method of encounter, the work produced on the island. A selection of photographs, texts and objects from the field accompanied the talk.

Six days in Tunisia. The method of Pantelleria travels to a new territory, with a new group of authors.
The Mediterranean tree as biological archive, cultural threshold and sensory instrument. A field research across three territories on the relations between arboreal matter, landscape, identity and narrative.

Each territory holds a distinct form of this relationship: its own ecology, its own language between people and arboreal matter, its own register of time. The research reads the tree through four instruments and returns it as an atlas.
Authors work in the field with naturalists, foresters and local communities. Every species, place and voice becomes an entry of the archive that will form Raw Magazine Issue 1.
